A Lifetime to Realize
The fires of life shape our souls
It's hard to remember who I am
in the midst of life's conflagrations.
Traced in constellations far away,
a light without darkness lingers.
Being what good is supposed to be,
my original bright conception calls out to me.
Sometimes it takes a lifetime to realize
that the fires burn the chaff away
leaving just a lovely lasting glow.
